The calculation basis for the participation of your packaging subject to system participation in our dual system or for the use of our trademark "Der Grüne Punkt" is the amount of packaging material in kilograms that you bring onto the German market per year.

The packaging must be allocated to the following material categories:

• glass
• paper, paperboard, cardboard
• ferrous metals
• aluminium
• plastics
• beverage carton packaging
• other composite packaging
• other materials

What if the packaging consists of several materials?

Packaging components that belong to a sales unit but can be separated from each other manually are assigned to the respective material categories.

Components that are firmly attached to a packaging, i.e. cannot be separated manually (e.g. labels), are assigned to the main material of the packaging.

After the packaging has been divided into the respective material categories, the individual components are now weighed and the weights are multiplied by the total number of units of packaging per year.

After these calculation steps have been carried out for the entire packaging assortment, the respective weights of the material categories only have to be added up.
